_files/blank_1_nv.gif) I measured the temperature rise of
the heatsink of the switching regulator which made this time to compare
with the generation of heat with the 3 terminal regulator. It is the
temperature rise when taking out 5 W(5V x 1A) as the output power at the
input voltage of 12 V. In case of the 3 terminal
regulator, 7 W are consumed with the regulator but in case of the
switching regulator, they have the consumption electric power of about 1
W. Because the used heat sink is different-sized,
it doesn't become the strict comparison. It is the reference
value.
I installed the probe of the
thermocouple-type thermometry receptacle at the
heatsink and measured it.
The heatsink which I
used this time is the following size.
